Definately the best place to eat in Bishop's Castle. With the Castle Hotel a close second. The 3 Tuns has a friendly feel and when I went with my local in-laws we had a great meal. Everything was cooked to perfection. Rare steak very tender and fish and chips with the best chips ever. The attached brewery has a good selection of excellent beers, and the wine list is ok. We don't eat deserts, but the cheese & biscuits option was a bit lacking in the amount of cheese, with too much chutney.

My overall experience was disapointing, its a restaurant and dogs were present which is a put off. The decor is lovely, its going through a great transformation. But I feel more time needs to be spent on improving the food. Our starter of cajun chicken with a sweet chilli sauce was very nice, i was then really looking forward to my roast beef lunch, but was very disapointed, it was served on a very cold plate so when the meal arrived it was luke warm, went cold within minutes, this with the raw vegatables, partly cooked potatoes, and burnt on the edges but raw in the middle roast carrots and parnips, and chewy beef made my main meal a very unpleasent experience, the puddings of apple crumble, brownie and strawberry kebab, and icecream were ok, but the most enjoyabls the icecream. ( which was probably brought in) was the best for flavour.

What a great find. a charimatic pub with superb food usin local produce from many award winning suppliers, real from the adjoining brewery. Difficult to leave!!
