Welcome

The Feathers at Brockton, Much Wenlock

Nestled in the sleepy historic village of Brockton
on the Much Wenlock to Ludlow Road,  is the renowned Feathers. Dating back centuries, this rather unassuming building has undergone many changes, but has retained its traditional character throughout, and now enjoying authentically rustic Mediterranean influenced decor.

The owners Paul and Anna Kayiatou.,who have now been resident for over 4 years, have made many improvements, to both the menus, and the decor. The much neglected conservatory has also now been updated, as well as adding 4 gorgeous new bedrooms in Brockton, Much wenlock, a rarity!  (see tab above)

The Outside enjoys a roadside location. though the main areas are at the rear overlooking the brook. and greenery of the views across the Shropshire Country-side. The large car park is certainly welcomed on a busy evening. and the walled patio area is a pleasant place to sit and enjoy your pre-dinner drinks.

The bar is small. but perfectly formed. decked with old wine boxes full of over 40 interesting wines, prices starting from £9.95. with 10-12 available by the glass – Two well kept local real ales are always available. along with premium lagers.
All wines are also available at a wholesale price to take out and are available from the New Shop List!

The interior is relaxing and open and surprisingly light. Set out a little like a rabbit warren. it creates welcome corners. cosy nooks and quirky tables to sit and enjoy any occasion. The quarry tiled floors add an authentic feel. and the collection of eclectic furniture. and distressed wooden tables add to the ambience. The eclectic mix of chairs including leather. old pews. rustic wicker. and fixed cushioned alcoves. mean you are never spoilt for choice. The exposed beams and stone-works. along with the inglenook fireplace. recesses filled with ceramics and artefacts. really add to the ambience.

The 67 seater (soon to be 87 with the newly refurbished conservatory) restaurant stretches throughout the entire building. offering a wide choice of areas to sit and enjoy the décor – showing artwork from local artists such as Beverley Fry.

The food can only be described as traditional British with strong local influences and fresh ingredients. All the meats and vegetables are locally sourced. and the fish caught and brought up from Brixham.

The menu is printed with regular favourites. including their famous half a crispy duck (really worth a taster if you get chance) Pork Belly with black pudding. steaks and vegetarian dishes - All complimented by daily specials boards.

Feathers Brockton ~ All about the food....See above for our sample Menus

Having worked as a chef in the South,  including London for 14 years, and been finalists in Young Chef of the year, and enjoyed awards with Michael Roux. Paul knows a thing or two about food, and certainly shares his knowledge with the menu.

Paul says ‘with the wide choice of fresh ingredients available in Shropshire, we delight in putting together our menu. The specials change daily with simple, but hopefully intriguing ingredients to really compliment the flavours of the local produce’ He continues ‘Our team share our passions for food, and often try new ideas to challenge our knowledge, and delight our customers’

One of Paul and Anna’s latest ambitions was to create a local shop in the grounds of the Feathers however, the plan became too difficult to accomplish without a grant so instead of giving up hope they have just moved the idea inside the Feathers. The Feathers Shop List’ has only just begun with a selection of fine Local products for sale, including Wenlock Edge Farm, The Ludlow Nut Co and The organic smokehouse, not forgetting there own selection of their own homemade sauces, famous truffles and many other exciting foods, not forgetting the wholesale wine list, including wines from Shropshire based Classic Wines Direct ! Internet hamper orders will be available soon!

More details of local produce on sale at the Feather's will be launched soon...Why not visit & enjoy it in the comfort of the restaurant first!

Conservatory

 The New Conservatory

The Feathers' much neglected conservatory, at the rear of the restaurant, also used as the entrance,  is now the proud owner of new sealed walls and a nice dry roof giving scope for Anna to set about her final mission to create a lovely relaxing eating area with white muslin drapes, interesting pictures and rustic touches to make this wonderful space welcoming and pleasant throughout the year.

Anna says’’ Now we can finally give our customers a chance to dine comfortably in our new conservatory and relax in an area which has rarely been used for many years. It will create a whole new ambiance to the Feathers!

My next task will be to transform the patio area into a suitably fitting extension to the conservatory, renewing the dated furniture and spending time to create a Mediterranean feel garden with interesting statues and soft evening lighting, we’ve even managed to have made a recycled fire to give our customers a more environmentally friendly heat in the evenings whilst they sip wines and watch the summer evenings grow dim’.
