The Raven Hotel is situated in the heart of the historic town of Much Wenlock, the hotel combines period charms with warmth and hospitality. The airy award winning restaurant looks out on to the inner court yard which is used for alfresco dining in the warmer summer months.
Dining
The restaurant at the Raven currently holds an AA rosette and an AA Strawberry award, the later is in acknowledgement of the inclusion of regional produce within the menu. The chefs pride themselves in sourcing a high percentage of produce as locally as possible.
Accommodation
The Raven has 20 individual designed bedrooms, all with ensuites and the expected mod cons, The hotel has been award 3 stars from the AA for its accommodation.
Function Facilities
The Hotel can host functions and parties for 30 individuals comfortably, menus and refreshments can be individually tailored to cater for any budgets or requirements.
Olympic games
Few people know that Much Wenlock can be credited as the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games. William Perry Brookes (JP born in Much Wenlock) developed an interest in encouraging physical exercise within the working class of the area, a persuit which led him to introduce the first Wenlock Olympic games in October 1850, this was then later credited with the revival of the Olympic games on the world stage. This event is still annually held in the town during August.The Hotel still displays many artefacts from the early games including letters and memorabilia.
