Historic Inn set amongst Shropshire’s picturesque country-side. this 14th Century Coaching Inn – once the resting place of Dick Turpin – now boasts three indoor dining areas. two function rooms. Pool and games room. as well as public bar and extensive secluded gardens.
Run by Anna-Marie. David and the rest of the friendly Duncombe family since June 2003. the relaxation and warm atmosphere is certainly welcoming. With Anna-Marie pleasantly greeting customers. and David who was the longest serving chef in Ludlow. at the renowned Unicorn. ably minds the kitchen and prepares the dishes using his skills he picked up during his time in Ldulow. and preior to that when he fully qualifiedover 20 years ago.
The extensive bar offering real ales & wines – offering 6 by the glass – and continental lagers. is set in the centre of this maze of rooms. and very low beams. You can enjoy your drinks in the cosy rear bar area. whilst chatting or reading the amusing ‘quotes’ from Anna-Marie on the walls and beams. Or you can sit and enjoy food and drinks throughout the many rooms. nooks and crannies on offer.
Dining
Food can be enjoyed almost anywhere in the Swan. The front restaurant 'Nana's Sitting room' is adorned in family bric-a-brac. and small tables. over-looking the fields. also offering one of the three open fires for those cold winter nights.
Or you can enjoy light snacks. including sandwiches freshly prepared to order on local bread. in the front bar area. with its low beams. open view of the charactered bar. and the second of the three fire places.
The Food
Freshly prepared to order. many of the ingredients from local farms. butchers and other suppliers. with menus being updated daily. and displayed on the many chalk-boards offering dishes such as:
Starters - Soup £4.75. Chicken Liver Pate £525. Garlic Mushrooms £5.25
Mains - ‘Olde fish & chips in chefs special batter £7.95’ or Baconwrapped chicken in wild mushrooms £10.50. 10oz Rump steak£11.50 or fillet of Seabass (not local!) £13.50 Other favourites may include; sausage and mash. steak and kidney pie. homemade faggots and mash. a selection of steaks. and vegetarian dishes a plenty.
Puddings are all home-made. with ‘Crumble of the day’ or ‘Home-made bread & butter pudding’. ‘Banana splits’ or ‘cheese and biscuits’. all from £3.95

Sunday Roast is traditional. and all the meat is sourced locally where possible. Due to availability & seasonality prices and dishes may change.
The History
Dating back to 1350. and constructed largely from old ships’ timber . some of which is over six hundred years old!
Dick Turpin is widely reported to have stayed there. as a boy. while he was training to be an apprentice butcher - he was always interested in cattle and farming – but sadly took another route. and was hanged as a highwayman in York in the 1730’s – he should have kept to his day job!
There are other stories of old on the plaque in the entrance porch.
Walkers & Travellers
In its age-old tradition. The Swan still welcomes walkers and coach parties (with prior bookings) and offers ample parking facilities. and gardens if the weather in nice to enjoy. whilst you take a breather from your journey.
Games Room
Pool is available as well as doms. darts and board games. They also sponsor the local ‘Corvedale Cricket Team’
Parties & Events
All are welcome. no matter what your size of party – there are two private function rooms available. one with a private bar. All requests can be catered for including special menus. buffets. and full sit down meals. Meetings can also be held here and coffee’s and light snacks can be put on at your request - We can also arrange flowers. and room decorations. along with any other party needs. with prior notice.
